Swings & Smiles is offering voluntary internships for young people aged 16-18 years old. There are two internships available which are aimed at anyone looking for experience within the voluntary or childcare sectors.

 

This is a really exciting opportunity to develop skills and gain experience and confidence as part of a structured and rewarding placement. The internships are unpaid but we will provide cake! You will receive a certificate and reference upon completion of the placement, and be fully supported throughout. We are able to be flexible in terms of the time that internships will run.

The opportunities currently available are:

Charity Internship

​

By completing our Charity Internship you will gain experience and knowledge of what it takes to run a successful charity. This will include:

​

• Fundraising

• Communications and marketing (including social media)

• Policy and business strategy

• Research

• Working in an office environment

• Working as part of a team

• Working to deadlines

 

This internship would suit somebody who has the following skills:

​

• Excellent communication skills

• Good IT skills

• Excellent organisation skills

• Enthusiasm for working within the charity sector

• Pro-active

• Able to work on tasks independently or as part of a team

Childcare Internships

 ​

Our Childcare Internship will provide an insight into careers relating to caring, disability support, therapy and social work. This will include:

• Session planning and running

• Understanding the importance of what we do

• Reflecting on the impact and benefit to families

• Family and sibling support

• Working in an office environment

• Working as part of a team

• Working to deadlines

 

This internship would suit somebody who has the following skills:

• Excellent communication skills

• Good IT skills

• Excellent organisation skills

• Enthusiasm for working within the charity sector

• Pro-active

• Able to work on tasks independently or as part of a team
