We are delighted to be able to welcome families back to Swings & Smiles for a range of play, support and respite sessions. We have worked closely with other agencies to ensure that Swings & Smiles continues to be a safe and happy place, even though things might look a bit different. Below is an outline of the activities you will be able to enjoy this summer but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or require additional support to access these.

Group Respite

Monday/Thursday –3 hour sessions charged at £15 per child

These will be similar to the short breaks that we would usually run but staff will work on a 121 basis with a child and be in bubbles of 3 pairs. We can accommodate 2 bubbles per session due to the size of our garden. We also plan to take the children ‘offsite’ in their bubbles on walks around the local area.

These sessions are for West Berkshire residents aged 8yrs and over.

Garden Family Play

Come and have some fun in the Swings & Smiles garden. Each session will be bookable in advance and can only accommodate small groups.

SibSupport

Wednesdays – 1.5 hour sessions, no charge

This will remain a drop off session and the children will be kept in bubbles of up to 6 with no more than 2 bubbles onsite at a time. One play leader will be allocated per 6 children and will take responsibility of their bubble.

Spectrum & Oasis

This will remain a drop off session and the children will be kept in bubbles of up to 6 with no more than 2 bubbles onsite at a time. One play leader will be allocated per 6 children and will take responsibility for their bubble. There are some children that will benefit from a much smaller group which will be accommodated on this day. The play leaders will be familiar to the children that attend the club.

Outreach

1-1.5 hour session charged at £10

A play leader will take a planned activity into the home of families that are not able to come to the centre. Ideally we will set up in a garden or outside area but if the weather is bad we can come indoors as long as the family is happy for us to do so. The play leader can lead the activity whilst adhering to social distancing but if preferred the activity can be set up and stand away while the child enjoys it.

Face to Face Support

Held in the outdoor classroom area away from the main play area.
This will be aimed at SIBSupport or our older, high functioning children where it involves emotional or mental wellbeing support.

Our virtual support also continues so if you aren't quite ready to join us back at the centre there's plenty to still keep you busy.

Social Media Support

We're very active on social media so make sure you're following us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to see what we're up to. You can join in with our 30 Day Challenge at any time, the team have been busy filming themselves completing lots of fun activities that you can try at home, and they're all available on our YouTube Channel. We also have a closed Facebook group just for parents which is a safe space to get advice and support not only from our team, but from other parents too.

Download Our App

We've created an app, Smile, to support parents who have children with special needs and disabilities with their mental health and wellbeing. Access practical tips and advice on the go or at a time that suits you. The app is free and available to download on iOS and on Android
