Swings & Smiles is very excited to have been chosen as a finalist for the Greenham Trust Double Matched Day taking place on Friday 11th December! This is an amazing opportunity for us to raise some significant funds to help us expand our sensory areas and increase play opportunities for all children and families who attend Swings & Smiles.

The project will allow us to substantially increase our sensory room space, put in a ceiling hoist and make some specific cooking and art areas, all of which will mean we can support even more children and families.

On Friday 11th December every £1 we raise will turn into £3, meaning that if we can raise £5k on this day we will have an amazing £15k towards the project, and this is where we are going to need some help. Over the past couple of weeks we have been planning some interesting fundraising ideas and would like as many people as possible to support us in one of these ways. This will hopefully help us reach our target and to raise awareness of the charity and the work we do.

How can you help?

  • Bake a cake for our cake sale – If you'd like to make or donate something for our cake sale please drop these off to centre by Thursday 10th December, or you could hold your own sale at home, work or school. The cakes will be for sale on Friday 11th at Thatcham Market between 8am-1.30pm so if you can't make something, you could enjoy a treat and help out instead!
  • Walk, run, push, hop, skip a mile – Get your trainers on and travel a mile on Friday 11th, however you'd like. Make a donation of £5 and this will then be turned into £15 (and you'll have room for some extra cake). Extra points if you get a photo in front of the Swings & Smiles sign and tag us in on social media!
  • Christmas jumper day – Wear some festive knitwear at some point in the week leading up to the 11th and make a donation on our project page on the Friday. Get friends, family or colleagues involved too and see who can wear the best jumper!
  • Watch the premiere of our online Nativity - Tune in to a very special Swings & Smiles Nativity and make a donation in return for front row seats. Watch out for this on our social media on Friday 11th December
  • Sponsor the team in their 24 hour bike-a-thon – Each member of the Swings & Smiles team will be taking their turn on the bike and plan to keep the peddles turning for a whopping 24 hours – I wonder how far we can get!?!

Of course all donations will be very gratefully received on this day to help us reach our goal, although we cannot accept anything in advance of the day as this would mean we can’t take advantage of all the matched funding on offer. To make a donation on this day please visit our project page here.

If you have any other ideas of ways that you, your family or organisation would like to get involved on this day please just let us know - we'd love to hear from you!

Donations made by credit or debit card to our project on The Good Exchange on Friday 11th December between 00:01 and 24:00 will be “double matched” by Greenham Trust meaning that for every £1 donated Greenham Trust will award £2, so £1 becomes £3, £5 becomes £15, £20 becomes £60 and so on up to a maximum of £5,000 in donations, £15,000 including matched funding. When the £5,000 target has been reached and the project has received £10,000 in matched funding, donations can still be made and will be greatly appreciated but will no longer be matched or double matched. Full terms and conditions are available here.
